Socks, Socks and more Socks

July is Sock month at my local yarn store (Yarn Cravin in Perrysburg Ohio! They are awesome). They are doing a fabulous contest of which I don't know all the details. Anyway you sign up for how many socks you think you can get done in a month. I guessed 4 socks (that's socks not pairs) with hopes of more. My problem is I keep finding more socks that I want to cast on :) I'm almost done with one of my BadAmy socks. I have turned the heel on one of my dragonfly socks and I have done a few more rows on my Hermione's Everyday Socks. I found I would also like to cast on a pair of of Little Witches socks for Bug but those wont count as they have to be adult socks for the contest. I have also fallen in love with Luna's Moonlight Socks and have the perfect yarn for it. I wound the yarn tonight while the power was out. It has been so hot here lately that our power is just being drained in this area. It was 104 degrees today but with the humidity it felt like 130. It was nuts.

Knitting time

Knitting time seems to flow way differently then regular time :) When I'm knitting I measure time in stitches done, rows completed, and finished projects. Knitting time is passing slowly around here lately.

I did want to update on what I'm working on and how much is done :)

I'm working on

As Always I'm working on...

Mitered Square Blanket
Beekeepers quilt
My precious

I'm also working on

My super secret swap projects
Bugs top/dress (which apparently I haven't started a project page for LOL)
Bug's "bunny" dress
Es O ce Ke es

On my wheel

I'm spinning some very lovely fiber (70% corriedale wool and 30% mohair) in the colorway "Love potion #9" from Spinning Moon Farm . I am a monogamist spinner if not a knitter :)

I keep wanting to put more on my needles but I want to finish something first. I keep going back to my mitered square blankets at the moment. They are holding my attention best. I guess that says a lot about how busy my life is at the moment.

Our new traveling monster

Hi everyone. Meet Mitzy :) She is our Traveling monster this year for the Danger Craft Group on Ravelry. I originally made Kitty Sparkles to go but she wouldn't be comfortable in the box and no way could I fit a journal in there with her. So they decided to be best friends instead and Kitty will help Bug and Monkey to keep track of all that is happening with Mitzy :0)

Fried Dandelions :)

I was driving home from picking up Bug at preschool and I happened to see a dandelion field. It got me to remembering my grandma's fried dandelions. They were so yummy and I always got to pick the flowers for her. I decided today would be the perfect day to introduce Bug to this tradition :) I gave her a basket and sent her out in our back yard to pick the flowers :) We pick just the head of the flower (we pick about 30 flowers), rinse them, dip in egg, then cover in Bisquick (you can use flour but I think the bisquick is MUCH better) then fry in oil till brown on both sides.

The end result :) Happy memories made and reminders of the passed and how much Gram is missed!

Gaptastic Cowl

I am in the process of making my second one. Its a very boring knit but the result is fantastic. My 3 year old stole my first one. Handspun, hand knit! At least the kid has good taste :)

Oh the Snow....

Since it is snowing outside I thought I would take the time to update you all (LOL I Have NO followers LOL) on what I have on my needles at this point in time. I'm going to use this blog to kind of keep track of what I get done this year. I do so on Ravelry (TwoPinkBugs if anyone wants to look me up) but I thought this would be a good way too. I'm also going to talk sometimes about my fitness or lack there of ;)

Right now on my needles I have the Mitered Square Sock blanket

I also am working on My Clapotis, I am doing a knit a long with Lyn. I chose Noro yarn for mine.

A pair of socks that I just cast on. I got this yarn called Time Traveler from KnitPicks. Makes me think of Dr. Who :)

I also did 30 min. and 1.5 miles on the treadmill this morning. Its so nice that it is on the porch now. I could look out and see the snow falling. It was great. My new moto is get my workout in right after popping out of bed (or couch in today's case) so my brain doesn't have a chance to protest. This will go great if I can wake up before the kids and have them stay IN bed. Here is the view from my Treadmill. And yet I'm inside so I'm not out in the falling snow. Its great! I love my family who made it possible!
